Your taste buds go wild

Sun-kissed bites
from Catalonia
08:53
A culinary journey!

Today is Wednesday, market day, great news because you intend to find the best local produce, to cook up a Catalan recipe for your friends this evening!

A light breakfast: café au lait, a juicy nectarine and you dash off to find your posse at the campsite entrance, heading for Sant Pere Pescador market.

09:45
Your first gourmet stop: Sant Pere Pescador market

The colourful market stalls tickle your taste buds! You enjoy stocking up on sun-drenched Catalan vegetables, Spanish cured, cooked and preserved meats, olives and local cheeses.

While the men enjoy a single espresso on the terrace, you and your girlfriends head to the clothes stalls, in search of a stunning summer dress!

11:30
Next up on the culinary trail: Florenci Fruits

Here, you’ll find the finest fruit in the region! In particular, all apple varieties in every conceivable form – juice, cider, compote, jam…a real treat!

13:00
Tapas in Sant Martí d’Empúries

Lunchtime is finally here! You are starving, and make your way towards the delightful medieval quarter of Sant Martí d’Empúries, in the town of L’Escala.

The atmosphere is highly convivial on the Plaça Major (main square), and you thoroughly enjoy Catalan tapas – tomato bread, Iberico ham croquettes and grilled squid. All washed down with a glass of Cava (Spanish sparkling wine), consumed in moderation of course!

15:00
A post-lunch walk

This afternoon is given over to visiting the delightful medieval village of Sant Martí d’Empúries. You’ll see murals dating back to the Middle Ages, Sant Marti church and stroll through the narrow streets.

17:00
Back home, with armfuls of food!

You’re back at Amfora campsite to cook up home-made Escalivada, a light, fresh dish made from roasted aubergines and red peppers, seasoned with extra virgin olive oil and served with a lovely slice of toasted bread.

One of the most Mediterranean dishes in Catalan cuisine, and this year you’re determined to win the ‘Chef of the Summer’ award!

The warrior relaxes

You’re already in bed. Exhausted but happy after today, packed with fits of the giggles and superb cuisine.

Tomorrow should be equally delightful, as you’re meeting your friends on the tennis court for an energetic doubles match. After all, you need to keep active to stay in shape!
