For nearly 40 years, the Amfora campsite has welcomed you in Sant Pere Pescador, by the beach on the Costa Brava. A history and values which which have now been passed down for three generations, to our holidaymakers’ greatest delight!

1980s
Amfora campsite - History of the campsite - View of the campsite in the 1980s

Our campsite opened in 1986. To begin with, the campsite had nearly 200 pitches and just one sanitary block! To meet the expectations of our first holidaymakers, two tennis courts were built in the early years, as well as a mini-golf course for the very young.

As regards services, the campsite was quickly equipped with a mini-market and bar restaurant.

1990s

The beginning of the 1990s was marked by the installation of the first bungalows. Numbering 10 at the very beginning, they were the leading solution for holidaymakers looking for a little more comfort. Ever since, improving our holidaymakers’ wellness has been a constant leitmotif for our family.

The campsite expanded again in 1994 and 1998. Amongst the innovations, a further sanitary block appeared. By then the initial shrubs were well developed and large hedges now separated the pitches.

In 2003, the second generation of the family took over the campsite.
This introduced, as with the third generation which came after it from 2010 onwards, a new perspective, freshness and new ideas, to develop the campsite. At the same time they retained l’Amfora’s attractions: a family atmosphere, the values of sharing, availability and a sense of being at your service.

In 2006, the campsite obtained the EMAS classification. The EMAS classification, standing for “Eco-Management and Audit Scheme“ (environmental audit and management system), is a European certification enabling all types of organisation to be recognised for their environmentally responsible strategy.

Amfora very quickly took steps, so its operations did not have a negative environmental impact.

2010s

In 2012, a third sanitary block opened. With an impressive surface area, this was ultra-modern, its roof entirely covered with solar panels.

L’Amfora has become one of the first campsites in Spain, to produce electricity and be almost self-sufficient as regards energy consumption.

In 2015, Amfi arrived on the campsite for the first time. He’ll never leave us and has become the campsite’s official mascot and the children’s best friend! Amfi notably gets involved at the mini-club, but never turns down a trip to the water park to entertain everyone and holidaymakers often meet him in the evening at the show for young children!

2017 was an important year for l’Amfora. Indeed, two significant innovations appeared on the campsite. On the one hand, the relaxation and fun zone, with its multiple play facilities was created. On the other hand, the water park was equipped with large thrill-seeker slides, including the amazing Volcan Twist.

Always keen to improve its offering, in 2022 the Amfora campsite opened a completely new building housing the Amfi club, the campsite’s mini-club. With this new building, Amfi can accommodate children in excellent conditions, enabling them to have fun completely safely!

The range of accommodation available for hire has expanded every year, as holidaymaker demand has increased. Nowadays, more than 160 mobile homes and bungalows have been established on the campsite and the offering is continually improving, with ever more comfort and services for our holidaymakers.

Amfora campsite - History of the campsite -

Amfi and Puppy, their friendship starts with an incredible story!

During the winter, when the campsite is closed, Amfi, l’Amfora’s mascot, tends to travel a lot. He discovers new cultures, takes part in a multitude of adventures, and tries all the cuisine! He’s previously eaten insects in Thaïland, swum with whales in Tahiti, done high-speed straight-line downhill skiing in the Alps and salsa dancing in Cuba… That said, what deeply distressed him was his first meeting with the boisterous Puppy.

It was during a camel trip in the Sahara Desert in stifling heat, when Amfi dehydrated and lacking water, met Puppy… Far off on a dune, an orange ball rolled up to his feet. Amfi thought a ball of fire was falling from the sky.

Although very tired, he jumped off the camel and ran. The ball of fire pounced on him and made him trip over. Amfi was very afraid and fainted!

Later, a cold feeling woke him up: it was Puppy who was licking his snout. He gave him some water, explaining that he was the ball of fire! Amfi got up again, and they both started laughing!

From that day onwards, Amfi and Puppy have stayed together, continuing to travel and that spring, Amfi brought his new friend to the Amfora campsite. Every season, Amfi and Puppy now do loads of activities with young holidaymakers, never missing a chance to laugh and have fun…
